This seminar examines the relationship between heritage, tourism and globalization from the perspective of two African cities, Rabat and Cape Town. It considers how the development of tourist and heritage industries in the Global South have been shaped by the processes and pressures of globalization, but also how local tensions between architectural, natural, political and affective pasts can encourage use to rethink tourism management at the urban scale.
